I love this “Platinum” bag. I made the large size. The tutorial for this bag seems easier to follow than the tutorials I’ve used for other Popsewing bags I’ve hand-sewn. The trickiest part of the Platinum handbag is properly stitching the four corners of the bottom base. Fortunately, the tutorial has a close-up of exactly where the needle needs to go so no stitch holes are skipped in either the base or the piping or mis-sewn to the body. I did use a few household “tools” to make certain the base & the piping were properly aligned. (There is one “large” hole in each side of the base to help with alignment). I used four safety pins -- one on each side of the bottom base -- to loosely pin together the base, piping, and the body of the bag. I also use a whole bunch of clips to hold the piping wrong-sides-together to the base (you do not want to sew the piping inside out!!!!!). Without the use of the clips it was difficult to keep the piping folded wrong-sides together and keep the holes aligned with the bottom base. The tutorial does not provide little helpful hints so I thought I’d try to be helpful for anyone who might be struggling to keep everything aligned. I fully intend to make a few more Platinum handbags for family members.

Powered through this project in two days, spending about 13 hours in total on it. It’s definitely not for beginners, and I’m not sure how someone could do it in 4-5 hours. Luckily the instructions were clear enough and all of the items needed to complete the bag were included.

All in all, I’m incredibly pleased with the look and feel of this bag. The leather is gorgeous, and the hardware glistens. Couple of things to note: the large size is comparable to a Birkin 25, so it’s still a little small. Also, this kit does not come with a lock and clochette (Not a deal breaker, but some people are picky.) Even still, I’m very much in love with this bag. I just ordered one in grey that I can’t wait to start.

This bag has really beautiful, soft, genuine leather and it's fun to put together! I took my time so it'd be perfect. It took around 20hrs. I would never wear a fake bag but I'm fine wearing this 'look-alike' because I sewed it myself and I'm proud of it!

What a gorgeous bag & complete kit. Everything you need is included (with extra thread in case you make a mistake, which I did at one point and needed to cut another piece of thread to redo it). The tutorial made sense and was easy to follow. The only thing you need to supply is a lighter or glue (depending on whether you choose to singe or glue the ends of your thread). The materials feel high quality and all the leather pieces fit together perfectly.
My order arrived within the specified time frame, and the videos were sent to me promptly via WhatsApp chat. The price seems very good for the quality of this kit. I purchased the pink bag and it was sent with white thread. The bag is true in design to how it's pictured on this website, note that it is not like the inspired bag on the inside (there is no pocket), you could buy a bag organisation insert if this bothered you. The measurements of the front and top of the bag are actually 25cm across, but it stretches to 30cm capacity if you include the sides and the way it folds outwards (which from my understanding makes it the same size as the Birkin 25). I do love the size but did think it would be larger based on the product description, I would love to purchase this again in a larger size (i.e. the front and back leather pieces being 30cm or 35cm in width). As others have mentioned it doesn't come with the lock and key - I don't feel the bag really needs it, but you can easily purchase these online if you do.
This did take a long time - it took me at least 30 hours over four days to sew together, and a lot of it was quite difficult. I even have blisters on my hands from pulling the thread so tightly! 😅 Despite this, it was quite a fun and challenging task that I enjoyed doing. 🥳
I'm so happy with the finished product, it was well worth the effort. Will definitely be buying from Popsewing again!

I enjoyed making the birkin! The instructions were good. I used a contrasting color of waxed linen leathercrafting thread, but other than that I just followed the video. I look forward to giving this as a gift! The leather is nice, no imperfections and its pliable and easy to work with. I'll be moving on to the advanced kits now.

I’ve always wanted to make my own purse and this was a great experience. I had everything I needed and the leather quality is great. It took me 15 to 20 hours to finish all the sowing, but I really enjoyed the process. The instruction video was very helpful.

I wanted to get this purse as a DIY kit because I thought it would be fun to try to put it together on my own. It definitely was! The tutorial was very helpful and went through every step. My tip is to be careful of how much thread you use. I accidentally was using too much, so I ended up running out and had to find a suitable replacement at my local fabric store to finish the purse. But that’s my fault entirely!

I had an absolute blast whilst making this bag. I'm so pleased with myself. It's not too difficult, just requires effort and patience. The tutorial videos are great (subtitled in English but easy enough to follow). Customer service is fantastic too. This bag looks expensive! Already looking at my next project...
